“It’s not a good thing”: Sonia Bompastor criticizes the scheduling of OL matches on Sunday

Sunday evening, the two Olympique Lyonnais teams will play at the same time. At 8:45 p.m., the match between Saint-Étienne and the Lyonnaises will kick off for the 20th day of D1 Arkema. A few kilometers away, at the Groupama Stadium, the men will host Brest in Ligue 1.

A situation that the OL coach does not appreciate, especially since it is not a first. “It’s not a good thing for fans of the club. This is the fifth or sixth time that we have been scheduled at the same time as the men,” the former French team player told the press.

A disappointment all the greater as the match will take place at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium. “This is not often the case and it brings an additional dimension to this notion of derby,” she reacted. “We love playing in venues with people,” she continued. Despite everything, only less than 5,000 spectators are expected in the Cauldron, which Sonia Bompastor regrets.

30,000 tickets for the Champions League semi-final

The Lyon coach, who could join Chelsea next season, was however delighted with the 30,000 tickets which have already been issued for the OL-PSG match counting for the semi-final of the Champions League, on April 20 at Groupama Stadium.

” It’s awesome. When you do this job, you want to have people at the stadium to have support and vibrate with the supporters. It’s good to feel enthusiasm building little by little, to feel that there is mobilization at the level of OL and the supporters’ groups. We arrive at high-stakes matches. This support can make a difference. We obviously appreciate it and we can’t wait to be there,” concluded Sonia Bompastor.
