Last weekend marked the provincial championships for several of our Arsenal sports teams. Congratulations to the student-athletes and coaches for these well-deserved recognitions!

Results – D3 Provincial Championship – Futsal

Last weekend marked the end of the school futsal season with the holding of the provincial championships in division 3. Our juvenile men’s team traveled to Dégelis secondary school.

From the start, our boys faced the Kéranna school. They won by a score of 4 to 3. In the round of 16, it was a victory by a score of 6 to 2 against the Dégelis team, in a supercharged atmosphere. In the quarter-finals, they continued their good run with a 7-4 result against the Collège Laval team, champion of their region! The boys were able to face a very technical and well-established team. Now in the semi-final, they played a flawless match, 3 goals to none for the opposing team. Charles-Antoine Gouger’s team finished the job brilliantly with a score of 5 to 2 against Paul Hubert’s team, undefeated until then. A very good match where our team was able to adapt to the style of play proposed by its opponents. Our boys once again showed great mental strength by adapting to the style of play offered by the school from Rimouski.

The boys have once again impressed us with their strength of character and resilience, which they have demonstrated all year. They won the first juvenile boys banner in program history, showing everyone that we can compete with the best teams in the province. It’s a huge source of pride for the program. Congratulations to all the players and coaches for their exemplary work!

Results – D2 Provincial Championship – Basketball

The players of the youngest team achieved a first in the history of the Saint-Louis Academy, by winning the very first provincial banner in basketball. What impresses is not the title, but all the work behind this feat. In addition to having a perfect season, being first in the number of points for, and first in the fewest points allowed, the team has earned the banner of sporting ethics par excellence!

We are proud to see that the program’s philosophy is creating a solid foundation, and is being followed by established programs across the province. We must not forget where we come from! The concentration saw the light of day only 4 years ago in the middle of a pandemic. That said, Arsenal basketball players are only in their 3rd season with the new version of the current program. The progress is dazzling and the entire coaching team has great ambitions.

The objective has always been clear since the arrival of the studies-sport program. We wish to unite academic excellence, surpassing oneself and sporting ethics.
