The perfect day in Dieter Müller’s life goes like this today: In the morning he has a quiet breakfast and watches breakfast television to find out about world events. The Offenbach native and former soccer goalscorer, who lives in Maintal just outside Frankfurt, then plays a round of golf in neighboring Hanau. Müller’s day would end to his complete satisfaction when his wife prepared him his favorite dish, spaghetti Bolognese.

The former exceptional striker, who is one of the best attackers in Bundesliga history, considers meeting Johanna Höhl 30 years ago and getting married in 2019 to be the most beautiful moments in his life. In September 2012, his wife probably saved his life when Müller had a serious heart attack at home and she gave him chest compressions until the emergency doctor arrived. Müller’s heart stood still for 31 minutes – “I was basically dead.” After successful resuscitation, he was in a coma for four days. “Without my wife we ​​couldn’t have this conversation,” says the former national player.
