French D1 Archery Championships: Individual Tournament Sets the Stage for Team Competition

Before starting the first round of the French D1 team championship, the best French archers competed this Saturday in an individual tournament on the Cerey plain site, in Riom, bathed in a blazing sun.

A sort of rehearsal which prepared for the competition this Sunday. The morning was devoted to recurve and compound bow qualifications before giving way, from 3 p.m., to the duels which would determine the podiums.

In women’s compound archery, it was Sarcelloise Sophie Dodemont, who came 6th in qualifying, who beat Lucie Jeannin (Cie d’Arc de Rouvres-en-Multien) 146 to 142 in the final. The podium was completed by Léa Giraud (Compiègne) who got the better of Tiphaine Renaudin.

Among the men, Nicolas Girard (Saint-Martin), 5th in the morning, beat Rennais Quentin Baraer 150 to 147, while Antonin Gardeur (La Touvre) took 3rd place by defeating Jean-Philippe Boulch.

No podium for Romain Fichet from Rio

Among the women, in recurve arch, Victoria Sebastian from Nîmes confirmed her first place in qualifications by beating Amélie Cordeau (Annemasse) 6 to 5 in the final. Louise Botte (La Sentinelle) climbing onto the podium following her victory over Anaël Coupard.

To finish, Clermontois Thomas Chirault, 3rd in qualifying, defeated Rennes Jonathan Vetter, leader of qualifying, with a score of 6 to 5. Florian Bossard completed the trifecta after his victory over Romain Fichet from Rio.
