Frenchman Thomas Chirault takes 4th place for this first World Cup stage of the season this Sunday in Shanghai (China). An encouraging result 3 months before the Paris Olympic Games.

Qualified for the last four, Thomas Chirault was not unworthy with a single arrow outside of 9 and 1/2 in his two final matches. A result that bodes well for the future. But as the Paris Games approach, the international level is intensifying and the Blues will have to redouble their efforts to be ready at the end of July and beginning of August.

In the semi-final against the Spaniard Andres Temino, the Clermontois had an exemplary match. He will have lacked a little success to make the difference. He only releases one arrow from the 9 and a half, but only seven of his arrows reach the 10 out of the 15 shot. Too close to win this match where the two opponents were solid until the end. The Frenchman lost 6 set points to 4 and had to resolve to continue with a prestigious bronze final.

No respite for Thomas Chiraultas soon as he left, he had to return to the arena to face an opponent who no longer needs to be introduced, the Korean Kim Woojin, double Olympic team champion (2016 and 2021) and holder of two of the three best world performances of all time. Against the Korean, Chirault once again produced an impressive match, but insufficient to overcome Kim Woojin. First led in the first set (29 to 30), the tricolor came back to the score in the second set (30 to 29). Small lack of efficiency then with two ends at 28 which allowed Kim Woojin to take control of the match with two 29 points. Thomas Chirault lost 6 sets to 2 and finished just off the podium for this first World Cup of the season.

In the final, to everyone’s surprise, the Spaniard Andres Temino beat the Korean Kim Je Deok and won this first round of the World Cup season.
