Football: Evan Ndicka has been released from hospital and does not suffer from “any cardiac pathology” after his illness

The Franco-Ivorian defender of AS Rome Evan Ndicka, victim of discomfort during the match on Sunday, left the Udine hospital after new examinations indicating that he did not suffer from “any cardiac pathology”, a his club announced this Monday. “The first and second level cardiological examinations which were carried out did not reveal any cardiac pathology,” Roma said in its press release.

“In light of the latest examinations carried out Monday morning, the clinical picture is compatible with chest trauma with minimal left pneumothorax,” added the capital club.

Ndicka was therefore authorized to leave the hospital to return to Rome. “New examinations will be carried out later in Rome,” said Roma, who did not give a date for his return to training. On Sunday, Ndicka, 24, collapsed in the 70th minute of the match between Udinese and AS Roma, counting for the 32nd day of the Italian Championship.

While he complained of severe pain in his heart, his teammates immediately called the club’s medical staff, who were quickly joined by the emergency services equipped with a defibrillator. The player, who still remained conscious, was quickly evacuated first to the infirmary at the Udine stadium, then to the hospital.

After discussions with his players and managers, AS Roma coach Daniele De Rossi indicated to the referee that his team was not in a condition to resume the match.

The match was therefore stopped when the score was 1-1, a decision greeted by applause from the spectators at Bluenergy Stadium. The Italian League must announce by the end of the week the date on which the match, crucial for both teams, will end, AS Roma, 5th, aiming to qualify for the Champions League, Udinese, 15th, not having yet ensured its maintenance.

Trained at Auxerre in France, Ndicka joined Roma last summer after five seasons in Germany at Frankfurt. The defender, a member of the Ivory Coast team that won the CAN in January, was playing his 19th championship match this season.
