Dutch Indoor Football Team Assistant Coach Reflects on Unforgettable Victory in ‘Crazy Competition’

“I haven’t slept yet,” says Zaid el Morabiti when he has just returned home to Amsterdam. The indoor football icon is now assistant national coach of the Dutch indoor football team and had an unforgettable evening. “It was nerve-wracking and a truly unique achievement. We celebrated well into the night and then left Finland early again.”

“Crazy competition”

In regular time, the Dutch futsal players reached 3-3 six seconds before the end, which meant extra time. The Dutch team then took the lead, but Finland scored the 4-4 one second before the end and therefore went to penalties. “A really crazy match,” Abdessamad Attahiri reflects. The 29-year-old indoor football player from Hovocubo in Hoorn played his fortieth international match against the Finns. “When you win after penalties, it feels so unreal.”
