“Disagreements between Tudor and Guendouzi being resolved,” assures Lazio

The relationship between the French international and the Lazio coach is reportedly calming down.

Lazio Rome sporting director Angelo Fabiani admitted on Wednesday that there were “disagreements” between his coach Igor Tudor and Matteo Guendouzi, but that they were “being resolved”. “It’s a matter that has no reason to exist. The Frenchman arrived before Tudor, do you really believe that the question (of their relations) was not clarified before?declared Fabiani at the microphone of the Radiosei channel.

“There are disagreements that are being resolved. He only has a calf strain and is training with those recovering from injuries”, he added without saying if he will be available or called up for the next match. According to the Italian press, the French international had an altercation last week with Tudor, whom he already worked with in 2022-23 at OM and with whom relations had been stormy after being relegated to the bench.

The origin of this altercation would, again according to the press, be Tudor’s decision to send Guendouzi to train with the reserve team. Guendouzi, 25, was not called up last Friday for Lazio’s match against Salernitana (4-1), officially due to a calf injury.

Arriving last summer at Rome in the form of a loan with an option to buy, Guendouzi quickly became an essential player for Maurizio Sarri, who resigned last month. The former Marseillais played 28 league matches and scored two goals.

Tudor did not start him for his first match at the head of Lazio at the end of March against Juventus, but Guendouzi, who entered in the 80th minute, was decisive in the action which gave victory to his club (1- 0). After the goal, instead of immediately celebrating with his teammates, he turned towards the Lazio bench and made a gesture with his arm, interpreted as a gesture of defiance towards Tudor. Lazio, 7th in the Italian Championship, travels to Genoa on Friday as part of the 33rd day.
