Chase Claypool Could Turn to CFL Without NFL Contract

Without an NFL contract, wide receiver Chase Claypool could turn to the Canadian Football League (CFL).

At least that’s the bet made by the Saskatchewan Roughriders. According to the TSN network, the club has included the name of the Canadian athlete on its negotiation list.

Claypool has been in the NFL since 2020, the year he was drafted in the second round (49th overall) by the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 25-year-old has played 58 games since then, having also worn the uniform of the Chicago Bears and the Miami Dolphins.

In the colors of his two teams in 2023, the receiver caught eight of the 21 passes sent in his direction for gains of 77 yards and a touchdown.

Claypool has had his hands on 175 balls for 2,261 yards and 13 career majors. He had over 850 yards in his first two seasons with the Steelers, but his production declined considerably after that.

Still according to TSN, the Roughriders have still not contacted Claypool’s camp. The latter still hopes to find NFL training for the 2024 season.
