“Remuntada” of Paris SG, 4-1 against Barcelona and Champions League semi-final. Two Spanish girls out

Paris Saint Germain achieves the “remuntada”: wins 4-1 at Barcelona and qualifies for the Champions League semi-finals. Luis Enrique’s team overturned the 2-3 draw at the Parc des Princes thanks to goals from Dembelé, Vitinha and the usual Mbappé who scored from a penalty and then in the final. But it is Barca above all that has to regret the missed opportunity: the Catalans took the lead through Raphinha in the 12th minute thanks to an incredible assist from Lamine Yamal. At 16, the talent from the Catalan “masia” plays in the Champions League like a veteran: if Mbappé is currently the strongest active footballer, the future is all in the feet of the very young Blaugrana. The match is managed by the home team but in the 30th minute the turning point arrives: Araujo gets sent off leaving his side in 10′. Xavi decides to remove Yamal himself: it seems the first of a series of mistakes by the coach. PSG grabs the equalizer with Dembelé, former player of the match. In the second half the Parisians definitively conquered midfield and in the 9th minute they went up 2-1 through Vitinha. Xavi loses his head and gets sent off in the 12th minute by kicking a structure on the sideline. A sign of tension for the team: after two minutes Cancelo gives away a penalty with a useless slide on Dembélé on a ball that was heading towards the goal. Mbappe, who had been out of action until then, took the spot and made it 3-1. The Blaugrana are in confusion, they risk counterattacks from PSG but they come close to scoring a goal which means extra time. In the 44th minute the France captain closed the game at 4-1. The Parisians continue the race towards the dream of winning the Champions League: the objective for which the Qatari owners have made billions in investments in recent years, “collecting” the best players in the world as if they were trading cards. A dream that Kylian Mbappé also had before leaving France to move to Real Madrid

Yamal and Nuno Mendes

Borussia Dortmund also made a comeback by beating Atletico Madrid 4-2, overturning the 2-1 result from the first leg at the Wanda Metropolitano. Diego Simeone’s team goes immediately behind: in the 34th minute Dortmund passes through Brandt on an assist from Hummels in the penalty area. After 5′ the second goal arrived thanks to full-back Maatsen who entered the area after a collective action and slipped past Oblak. But the “colchoneros” reacted and shortened the lead in the 6th minute of the second half with an own goal by Hummels who deflected Hermoso’s header into the net; then they equalized in the 19th minute with Correa recovering a short clearance from Kobel following a shot from Riquelme. Dortmund, however, continues to push and in the 26th minute they make it 3-1 with Fullkrug heading Sabitzer’s cross. At the 29th minute the goal that earned the Germans qualification: Sabitzer was the first to kick a rebound from Oblak into the net after a shot from Fullkrug. “Cholo” Simeone’s team pushes forward in search of a goal that could at least be worth extra time but the Germans keep a good guard and gain access to the Champions League semi-finals.
