The Bonn basketball players missed an early entry into the semi-finals of the Champions League. Now the defending champion has to serve detention.

The Telekom Baskets Bonn basketball players missed out on an early entry into the semi-finals of the Champions League. On Wednesday, the defending champions clearly lost their game at Peristeri Bwin 62:90 (34:46). After the Bundesliga basketball team won the first game of the playoff quarter-final series against the Greeks, the decisive third duel for a place in the semi-finals will take place next Tuesday in Bonn.

After a good start, the Bonn team had to accept a 2:15 run by Peristeri. The guests allowed too easy shots near the basket defensively, lost the ball too often offensively and were behind 14:19 after the first quarter. Bonn in particular couldn’t get Joe Ragland under control. Peristeri’s top scorer had already scored 14 points after 14 minutes, two fewer than the entire Bonn team. At halftime, the Bundesliga basketball team was behind 34:46.

The guests missed the start of the second half and continued to allow too many second chances. At the end of the third round, Bonn’s deficit grew to 21 points. Although they gained momentum with an 8-1 start in the fourth quarter, the Bonn team couldn’t get closer than 14 points. Till Pape and Glynn Watson were Bonn’s top scorers with 13 points each.

The teams that first achieved two wins in a playoff series in the European Cup qualify for the final tournament in Belgrade at the end of April. Two Spanish teams have already booked the ticket for this: UCAM Murcia – after a victory over the MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg – and Unicaja Malaga.
