Alexander Zverev celebrated his first win in Munich since 2021. The German tournament favorite won against Jurij Rodionov 7:6 (3) and 6:2 and will play against either Alex Michelsen or Cristian Garin in the quarterfinals.
Patience was required from both the players and the spectators – because the weather had already delayed the start of the game. And then the game was repeatedly interrupted by rain before Zverev confidently prevailed.
Which was also a good time: the German number one is scheduled to visit the Allianz Arena today. There, FC Bayern will face Arsenal FC in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
In the only other game played on Wednesday, Jack Draper beat Rudi Molleker 4-6, 6-1 and 6-1. Like Zverev, the Brit is in the quarter-finals. And there he will meet either Taylor Fritz or Thiem’s conqueror Alejandro Moro Canas.
