Albert Suárez Shines in First MLB Performance in Seven Years

Albert Suárez came out in great shape in his first performance in the Major Leagues after seven years away.

After his journey in Japan, Korea and Venezuela, the Venezuelan could not ask for a better return to the Big Top.

Albert Suárez began his path with a strikeout

The right-hander started with a 4-pitch strikeout and a fastball that hovered at 96 miles per hour.

In the second inning he received the first hit with a double. Without losing his composure, he dominated the Twins’ bats with a fly ball and a ground ball.

He retired the third episode on the fast track with a couple of strikeouts. The next inning he received a double again, but without any major problem.

Suárez came out of the pressure again after receiving a fly ball on the safety track with a man on first.

In the sixth inning, Suárez retired the Twins’ leadoff hitter, for the third time in the game. He hit Ryan Jeffers and reached second on a wild pitch.

He grounded out Byron Buxton and Jeffers reached second. This represented the last of Albert Suárez in his first start since 2017.

Brandon Hyde came out with a big smile and asked Suárez for the ball. 15,860 fans got up from their seats to applaud the Venezuelan starter who returned to the MLB in great shape.

The Venezuelan had 5.2 innings pitched, 4 strikeouts, no walks and no runs allowed. Suárez was retired in the sixth inning to a standing ovation at Camden Yards.

The Venezuelan finished with 75 pitches, 50 of them in Strike. 41 of the pitches were in the strike zone and the opponents fanned 41 of the 75 pitches.

Suárez left without a decision, but the Baltimore Orioles took the 4-2 victory with Cedric Mullins’ walk-off home run.
