Xabi Alonso, who is courted across Europe, will remain coach at German Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen for at least another year. The 42-year-old Spaniard, who was interested in Bayern Munich and Liverpool FC, said this at a press conference on Good Friday.

The former world and European champion said he had a good meeting with the club management the previous week. “And I informed her that I would continue as coach at Leverkusen. My job here is definitely not over yet and we still have a lot to do.”
