Genk will not be able to count on Yira Sor during the Playoffs. The Nigerien striker is injured in the groin.
Face au Standard, Yira Sor had been replaced at half-time following a groin problem. After less than reassuring examinations, he went to London with the club doctor to get a definitive idea of the extent of his injury.
Hopes of recovering Sor for the Playoffs were then dashed: he suffered from a tear and is undergoing surgery today, the club writes in its press release.
His season is therefore over: he will only be back for the start of the next financial year.

Genk deprived of Yira Sor
A heavy loss for Wouter Vrancken : despite the presence of advanced attackers like Tolu Arokodare or Andi Zeqiri, he made Sor his starter to take advantage of his speed and his calls behind the opposing defenses.
The player thanked him by scoring five goals and providing an assist in seven games this winter. Although Genk has the resources to replace him, it is one less weapon as the Playoffs approach: facing dominant teams, his depth would undoubtedly have hurt.
