“When it was time to fly to Australia, I was still in bed mode” – Motoru sports – Sportacentrs.com

“When it was time to fly to Australia, I was still on bed rest,” says Sainz. “I could barely use my stomach muscles to move. At the time I didn’t think I was going to be able to compete. I got on the plane but when I landed in Australia I felt a lot better.”

Sainz makes no secret of the fact that he made every possible effort not to miss another stage. The athlete followed a very strict regime and used all available options that help to recover faster after such operations.

“I spoke with other professional athletes, with doctors in Spain and abroad,” Sains reveals. “Then we came up with a plan with the team. The reason athletes recover faster is because they can spend 24 hours a day, seven days a week on recovery. And that’s exactly what I did. Twice a day I went into a hyperbaric oxygenation chamber for an hour, used I had the Indiba machine, which is an electromagnetic device for the wounds. I had planned the time to spend in bed, the time to walk, when to eat, what kind of food to eat, to recover. I had put everything into this recovery to be ready to compete in Australia.”

In the Australian GP, the Ferrari pilot achieved his third victory of his F1 career, but Max Verstappen, whom he had overtaken on the second lap, retired due to technical problems.
