Wanderers Baseball Excites Students at Oberjesingen Primary School’s Sports Week

Last Monday the Wanderers were guests at the Oberjesingen primary school (GSO) for the first time. The reason was the “GSO” project week, in which the 3rd & 4th. Graders were allowed to choose exciting projects. In addition to the exciting projects “How the world eats different foods”, “Art, building vehicles” the project “Do you already know the national sports around the world” was also offered by teacher Sarah Bessler.

And of course the baseball and softball players from the Herrenberg Wanderers were equally enthusiastic when Sarah Bessler asked whether they would like to be there. Bessler herself was a founding member of the Herrenberg softball team in 1997 and was able to impressively prove at the sports week that she still has the right momentum.

She was supported on Monday at “Baseball” by the three boys and girls coaches from the Herrenberg Wanderers.

Divided into two groups, group 1 first hit the baseball with a real baseball club, which worked really well. Meanwhile, Group 2 threw and caught the ball with the typical baseball glove and set records for how many times the ball could be thrown back and forth without touching the ground.

The best conditions for playing real baseball right away! Strongly contested games with very good hits followed, but the defense also showed skillful moves.

All 17 athletes plus the coaches had a lot of fun and the Wanderers left baseball equipment there so that the GSO students can continue playing baseball in physical education class.

The next few days continued impressively with the sports of judo, football, hockey and climbing.

A fantastic sports week thanks to great students and a great teacher! Well done!
