Varadero, Killings: In the coming days, the spa will host a series of international events, which will attract the attention of sports fans in our country.
In a visit to the peninsula this Thursday, the Vice President of INDER, Omar Venegas Echemendía was able to verify their assurances, with emphasis on the V edition of the Varadero Marathon that will take place this weekend, the Pan American Judo which will have activity in the different categories between April 3 and 10, as well as the Boxing Top between the national squads of Cuba and France that will take place on the 5th of next month.
Other sporting commitments that the island’s main sun and beach destination will host in the coming months will be the Swimming Master’s Cup (April 3 to 8), the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tournament (May 2 to 6), the First Caribbean Cup of Baseball 5 (June 1 to 15) and the Varadero Cup (President of the Republic) of Rowing (July 26 to 28).
The Vice President of the sports organization commented that in the coming days the Greco-Roman Wrestling team that is preparing for the Paris Olympic Games will have a training base in Varadero. “We are going to have the best athletes in the world in this modality here doing this training base, including our standard bearer Mijaín López. “They have tremendous commitment to the delegation at the event in the French capital.”

Omar Venegas said that one of the events that must be paid special attention to is the Pan American Judo. “Our main figures will also come here, who also have a commitment to the delegation at the Olympic Games. Therefore absolutely nothing should fail us.”
Venegas Echemendía reiterated that Matanzas is a strategic province for holding international events. “It is a priority for the organization because of the importance it has for the development of sport and this should later be taken as an example of what should happen in the rest of the provinces.”
INDER also looks for ways to generate income for the benefit of the sports system itself. “It is one of the deficiencies that the Prime Minister of the Republic, Manuel Marrero Cruz, pointed out to us in the Balance Sheet, which has to do with how we manage to generate income and thus alleviate the State budget.”
