Ruud van Nistelrooij could well be the next coach of Club Brugge: according to various Belgian media, the former PSV coach is in talks with the Belgian top club.

Club Brugge’s current interim head coach, Nicky Hayen, will retire after this season. Van Nistelrooij has been without a club since last May, when he left PSV.

Van Nistelrooij made a name for himself as a footballer by scoring consistently as a striker and had a great career at clubs such as PSV, Manchester United and Real Madrid. He was also accurate 33 times for the Dutch national team.

After his active career, ‘Van the Man’ became trainer of Jong PSV and the main team of PSV. With the first team of the Eindhoven club he won the cup and the battle for the Johan Cruijff scale. Still, the former striker left: he said that in his opinion there was “too little support and support” to continue any longer.

Multiple candidates

The fact that the former top striker is in talks with Club does not necessarily mean that he will actually get the job, they report in Belgium. For example, there would also be discussions with Karel Geraerts, from Schalke 04.

Club Brugge, the current number four in the Belgian league, is also in no hurry to appoint a new trainer, the new coach only has to start after the European Championship in Germany.
