U20 Six Nations Tournament: France recovers and wins 12-45 in Wales

The Bleuets prefer to travel in this 2024 Six Nations Tournament. This Thursday evening, the under-20s won in Wales (12-45), their second away victory in four matches after that won in Scotland ( 14-29), on February 9. Two successes which feel good and which contrast with the two setbacks suffered at home against Ireland (31-37) and, above all, against Italy (20-23). The French team remains in third place behind England and Ireland, who face each other on Friday, but recovers with this nice result.

It must be said that the offensive bonus was assured in the first half, completed 28-6 in the small Arms Park stadium in Cardiff. All this despite three injuries (the hooker Lotrian, the 3rd line Lavergne and the 2nd line Mézou) and a yellow card (the winger Bollengier in the 28th). More solid than the Welsh, the Bleuets scored four tries during the first act: from the back Mousques (10th), the third line Quere Karaba (33rd) and with a double from the left pillar Aouad (37th, 40th + 1). All with four transformations signed by the opener Cotarmanac’h.

During a much messier second period, manager Sébastien Calvet’s men contained the few Welsh attacks, remaining solid in defense (only 12 points conceded, two tries). Better, thanks to third row Tolofua, they added a fifth try to the counter (60th). Then a sixth and final try thanks to the Belaubre center (75th). An almost perfect evening. Last meeting for the Bleuets in this tournament scheduled for March 15 (9 p.m.) at the Hameau de Pau stadium against England.
