Two Men Linked to Attacks on Armored Vehicles Released: Connections to Organized Crime Revealed

Two men linked to the events of attacks on the released valuables.

Two people investigated for several attacks on armored vehicles between Tuscany and Corsica have been released. The Tempio Court decided to release John Mercury59 years old, from Loculi, e Francesco Ledda53 years old, from Alà dei Sardi, involved in an extensive investigation conducted by the Carabinieri which saw them arrested in January 2021.

According to what emerged from the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Cagliari, the two were part of an organization based in Sardinia and connections in Corsica and Campaniaspecialized in attacks on cash vans and drug trafficking.

Investigations also revealed that the gang had planned several heists, including one to Mondialpol in Tuscany and several robberies in Corsica, which however were never completed. The Court accepted the requests for release presented by the defense of the defendants (Potito Flagella, Angelo Carboni and Angelo Corda). Mercurio is also involved in the Monte Nuovo investigation.
