Champions League: Man City’s Scary Notes

Manchester

Manchester City reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League convincingly after beating Copenhagen at the Etihad. The victory confirmed the scary record The Citizens.

Manchester City advanced to the last eight of the Champions League after winning 3-1 over Copenhagen at the Etihad, Thursday (7/3/2024) early morning WIB. Erling Haaland et al escaped with a landslide 6-2 on aggregate.

Despite rotating players and fielding a number of substitutes, Man City has proven that they are still one level better than their opponents. Even Copenhagen coach Jacob Neestrup believes Pep Guardiola’s troops will retain the title.

Man City deserves to be top again, at least if you pay attention to their home record. They were difficult to stop at the Etihad Stadium.

In the last 30 home matches in the Champions League, Man City has won 28 wins and only two draws. Now they are chasing Barcelona’s record as the team with the best home run, when they were unbeaten in 38 consecutive home matches from 2013-2020.

Apart from that, three goals against Copenhagen also ensured that Man City set a record. They are the first team in a major European competition to score three or more goals in nine consecutive home games.

Even though the ladder to becoming champions is determined by a two-legged meeting (home and away) and one match at a neutral venue, this record is a big asset for Man City to get closer to the trophy. This creates a fear factor for visiting opponents.
