Toto Wolff’s wife filed a criminal complaint with the International Automobile Federation (FIA) in connection with last year’s investigation into her person. It was stopped, but no one apologized to her.
Susie Wolff, one of the leading women in motorsport and wife of Mercedes Formula 1 boss Toto Wolff, took legal action against the FIA over a conflict of interest investigation last year.
Wolff works as the head of the F1 Academy, so she is essentially an F1 employee. Her husband is at the opposite end of the barricade because he is the boss of the F1 team. Last December there were reports that the two were being investigated by the FIA for a possible conflict of interest when they allegedly shared confidential information.
Although the FIA did not mention the names, information appeared that it was this married couple. However, the investigation was soon stopped due to statements from all competing Mercedes teams. In it, the teams said they had not filed any complaint.
”I can confirm that on March 4th I personally filed a criminal complaint in a French court in connection with the statements made by the FIA about me in December last year,” Wolff announced in a post on social networks.
“There has still been no transparency or accountability regarding the actions of the FIA and its staff in this matter. I feel it is more important than ever to stand up, call out inappropriate behavior and hold people accountable. While some may think that silence absolves them of responsibility, this is not the case.“
“I am incredibly proud of Susie. She is so brave. He holds great values. He is a leader. In a world where people are often silenced, her standing up to that is a great message,” he said to Susie Wolff’s reaction Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton. “Things that happen behind closed doors are not transparent, there is apparently no accountability,” he added.
