Tickets for the La Cartuja Cup final are the most expensive in all of Europe and some have little visibility

The Cartuja stadium is the protagonist these days of Operation Brody, which has uncovered a corruption plot within the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). Next Saturday, April 6, the field will once again be the protagonist for football reasons, hosting the final of the Copa del Rey between Athletic and Mallorca (10:00 p.m.). The party will have, one more year, las more expensive tickets of all the great cup tournaments that are disputed in Europe.

The cheapest tickets for the general public are those at Banco de Pista, located in Gol Norte / Gol Sur (the funds), which are sold for 85 euros. The most expensive seats are located in the Grada club side and have a price of 220 euros. On average, a ticket to see the Copa del Rey final costs 170 euros.

The Coupe de France, the cheapest in Europe

The 85 euros represent an increase of seven compared to the starting price of the 2023 Copa del Rey final, which was already the most expensive in Europe. According to data from the Federation of Spanish Football Shareholders and Partners (FASFE), the most economical competition is the French Cupwhere you can see the final from 25 euros.

On the next absolute step is the DFB Cup in German, with prices ranging from 45 euros. The tickets for the KNVB Cup Dutch prices start at 49.50 euros and those of the FA Cup English at 52 euros. In the FASFE Maximum Payment report, another variable is applied for a contextual portrait of the differences, when applying the change in purchasing power that takes into account the standard of living of each country. The borders are widening even further.

According to sources consulted by this newspaper, one of the arguments offered by Luis Rubiales, former president of the RFEF, to justify the prices, was that the amount also included “the show”. The previous leader of the Federation was referring to the concerts prior to a match that starts at 10:00 p.m. The programming for the 2024 edition is unknown, last year they performed Ozuna, Alaska and Mario, Marta Sánchez or Sorayaamong others.

Tickets with reduced visibility for 40 euros

Both Athletic and Mallorca have received 40% of the 57,600 tickets available. In Bilbao, 17,848 tickets were raffled among memberswhich last Monday began to make the purchase option effective. The other 2,850 have been reserved for commitments with sponsors and collaborators.

On Wednesday, Mallorca opened the last window for its fans to cover the quota of 20,608 seats assigned by the RFEF, who takes 20% of the tickets for the final to distribute among its commercial partners. These calculations also include entrances with reduced visibilitywhich start at 40 euros (one more than last year) at Banco de Pista, both in Gol Norte and Gol Sur.

The concept of reduced visibility is not a subterfuge. These are locations at grass level. With that visual position and far away because of the athletics track It is practically impossible to follow the development of the meeting. It is a common complaint since the Copa del Rey began to be held regularly in La Cartuja in 2020 thanks to an agreement between the RFEF led by Luis Rubiales and the Junta de Andalucía.

The pact was initially signed until 2023 and was extended until 2025, so there will be six consecutive finals in a stadium that had already hosted two finals, the one in 1999, between Valencia and Atlético; and that of 2001, between Real Zaragoza and Celta. Despite the reforms, now judicially investigated, the field continues to have structural deficiencies.

The Board proposed a reform for the 2030 World Cup

Communications with La Cartuja are bad in all its forms. The reinforcement of buses in the Cup finals is ineffective due to security perimeters. Getting a taxi after the game is a very complicated task. Added to this are problems working at the facilities, such as an irregular Wi-Fi connection. All of this without entering into the athletics track debatean element in extinction on football fields.

In order to promote its candidacy as the venue for the 2030 World Cup, the Andalusian Government presented a reform proposal for this fiefdom, as well as La Rosaleda. President Juanma Moreno announced that the two stadiums would be “renovated, with maximum performance, to leave a legacy of prosperity for the following decades.”

La Cartuja, the stadium where the team is mostly home, would incorporate 12,000 additional seats to reach practically 69,000 seats. The design would contemplate the option of assembling and disassembling the athletics tracks to host an international event, as happened with the 1999 World Cup in Seville. These actions could be compromised by the ongoing investigations of Operation Brody.
