Aaron Donald: “I’m exhausted”

After ten seasons at the highest level rewarded by three Defenders of the Year titles and a Super Bowl won in 2021 with the Rams, Aaron Donald (DT) no doubt had a feeling of duty accomplished.

After retiring, the Rams legend decided to give more information on his choice to bow out via an interview which will be broadcast soon.

“I am full, I am no longer hungry. I no longer have the same passion for this sport. I will always love football but I no longer have the strength to prepare for a new season. I am satisfied with what I have accomplished in ten years but I am exhausted. It’s time to start a new chapter in my life,” he says in an excerpt posted on his X account.

Aaron Donald will be eligible for the Hall of Fame in five years. No doubt he should get in the first year.

NFL in favor of new tackling regulations

A proposal to penalize the “hip-drop tackle” sparked strong reactions. This proposal aims in particular to sanction with a penalty of fifteen yards any tackle during which the defender could block the leg of the attacker by falling on him.

The NFL Players Association protested the proposal, pointing out the confusion of the rules. However, Troy Vincent, former player and current executive vice president of sports operations for the league, defended this proposal by emphasizing “ that it was the league’s duty to ban this type of tackle“. The proposal must be accepted by at least twenty-four owners to be adopted.

Transactions

And bref

Gus Edwards (RB, Chargers) will be the Chargers’ number one rusher next season. This was assured by Joe Hortiz, the general manager of Los Angeles, on the official website of the franchise. For now, Isaiah Spiller is the only other runner on the Chargers roster.

Keenan Allen (WR, Bears) had trades with the Chargers before being traded to Chicago. “ To be clear, only one offer was made”, explained his agent on X in response to a message which reported that Joe Hortiz was talking about several contract offers. “ It was a salary cut for 2024 with a 2-year contract extension (and with other salary cuts for each year). We made a counter-offer. She was rejected. Then we were informed of the Chargers’ intention to trade Keenan Allen. »

– Bleacher Report reports that the 49ers received the safety Julian Blackmon (ex-Colts).

– According to Adam Schefter for ESPN, Josh Reynolds (WR, ex-Lions) will visit the Ravens facilities this Friday.

Justice

– A third suspect was arrested for murder in the case on the Kansas City shooting. He is 20 years old. His bail has been set at $1 million and he does not have an attorney at this time. Six people opened fire during the Chiefs’ parade in Kansas City after their Super Bowl victory. (ProFootballTalk)
