Shogun Judo Team Excels at Navarra Sports Games in Children’s and Cadet Categories

Last Saturday, March 23, the Second Phase of the Navarra Sports Games in the Children’s and Cadet categories, which ranges from 13 to 17 years old, was held at the Trinquete de Mendillorri sports center. Two first places, one second, three third places and several fifth places went to the Ribera Navarra judokas.

The competition held by Marcos Balmont, from Tudela, stood out in the -66 kilogram cadet class, a very large category with a very high level. Where he stood out for his good technique, beating his 3 opponents by Ippon (highest score). With this gold medal he obtains his classification for the Cadet of Spain, which will take place in Pamplona on April 26-28.

In the cadet category of less than 50 kilos, the fontellero, Pablo Muro, narrowly missed the bronze medal, finishing in a creditable fifth place.

In the turn of the children, ages 13 and 14, Ribera Navarra participated with 6 members.

Adriana Viela and Vega Lizaso

First place came from Tudelana, Adriana Viela, in the category of less than 36 kilos, who won all her fights for Ippon, thus also qualifying for the national championship, like her teammate, Balmont. Her partner, Vega Lizaso, won silver in the same category.

The bronze medals went to Lukas Lorente from Tudela, in less than 55 kilograms, who had an excellent championship, winning several fights to get on the podium, and to Carolina Pérez Kirbihekova from Tudela in less than 40 kilos, who came second. of the day but third in the final classification. Another third place went to the child Manuela Saborido (-48 kilos) who, as we are used to, gave everything on the tatami, and fifth places went to Leire Oruezábal (-52 kilos), Leire Cortijo (-57 kilos) and seventh place to Amaia Sánchez (-48 kilos).

The Shogun team attended with a total of 29 competitors in both categories (15 cadets and 14 children) achieving a magnificent result, climbing to the Navarrese podium up to 16 times. The competition began with the cadet category around eight in the morning, achieving first place for Azucena Martínez (Headquarters) who will represent the team in the national finals. The silver went to Kira Aguado (SC) and Iosu Bea (Judo Fitero) and the bronze to Zakarias Kaldoon, Allan Kevin, Mohamed Kadri, Alba Sagra, (all from SC) Nicolas Orobio (Judo Cascante) and Yasmina Rabhi (S.Cintruenigo). Israel Los Santos (JF), Sihan Zamroud, (S.Cascante) finished in a hard-fought fifth place along with Nadiuska Aznar (S.Cintruenigo) who could not attend the last phase due to having to go on a trip.

In the Children’s category masterfully improving the results by obtaining gold Claudia Casajus (S. Cascante), Alba López (S. Aguilar), Ilyas Rabhi (S. Cintruenigo). All of them will represent the team in the national finals along with Azucena Martínez. Second place went to Blanca Castañeda (SC) and third place went to Alex Acuña (S.Aguilar), Julieth Gallego (SC) and Ikrane Chabik (S. Cascante).

The fifth places in this category went to Laura Sánchez (S.Aguilar), Natalia Mendoza (S,Aguilar) and Jihaen A.Eddebi (S. Cascante).

The rest of the Shogun judo team, despite doing everything possible within the combat area, could not qualify for the semifinals. Hansa Salhi, Carmen Cornago, Amanda Melgarejo, in the cadet category and Jose Tello, Imad Matallaoui, Carlos San Juan, and Khadua Zaroual, in the Children’s category.

On the other hand, Malu Ardoiz, also from Judo Shogun, will participate in the Spanish Children’s and Cadet Championships as a National Referee after his classification.
