Three arrests and four complaints for the huge brawl that broke out on Friday afternoon at the Shrine, for trivial reasons.
Those arrested are two Italians aged 35 and 46 and a 33-year-old of Afghan nationality, all convicted criminals who, in the circumstance, suffered injuries judged to be curable with a prognosis of between 3 and 7 days. One of the Italians was also charged with the crime of attempted murder for having deliberately tried to run over the foreigner with his car, which had been seized.
On site the agents of the flying squad, who intervened together with the carabinieri of the operational and mobile unit of the Viterbo company, found and seized a baseball bat and a hammer probably used during the brawl. A minor and three other people were reported to be at large.
Those arrested have been placed under house arrest at the disposal of the judicial authorities but further investigations are underway by the police and carabinieri to reconstruct the dynamics of the incident, also through the acquisition of testimonies and the viewing of the images recorded by the video cameras surveillance present.
The “wild west” brawl took place around 6.30 pm under the astonished eyes of numerous witnesses. Two family groups face each other. According to what was learned, but as mentioned the dynamics are still being examined by the police, it all started with an argument between two girls in via Saffi, one of the two called her mother who in turn called her relatives . The relatives of the other girl also arrived. Skirmishes immediately broke out between the two groups who ended up facing each other in Martyrs of Hungary Square. Here a man attempted to run over a boy. Hence the reaction of his “faction” who allegedly took a “sledgehammer” to the roof of the car. In the meantime the police were called.
Police and carabinieri arrived in large numbers. Not even when the first flying squad patrol arrived, things didn’t calm down. Indeed, two men fought right in front of the policemen.
Several videos of the brawl were shot by passers-by which immediately ended up on social media, triggering an avalanche of indignant comments.
