Salvadoran Archery Federation Holds Successful First Event of 2024 National Ranking

This weekend, the Salvadoran Archery Federation (Festa) developed the first event of the 2024 National Ranking with the participation of more than thirty local archers who competed in the recurve and compound bow modalities, in the senior category, U18 , master and teams.

Douglas Nolasco, an athlete from the Effort and Glory Program, took first place in the senior men’s compound bow after fighting an intense final with his teammate, Roberto Hernández.

Nolasco, who also finished the qualifying stage in first place with 702 points, won the gold medal by beating Hernández 148-144, who also belongs to the Effort and Glory Program. Third place went to Erick Menjívar, who defeated Adrián Pocasangre 145-141.

“There is no doubt that it is always nervous to be on the shooting line knowing that you have to give your best with each arrow and because of the high level of competition at the national level. Even though the weather conditions were not easy, I tried to always maintain that good feeling and be more consistent with each shot,” the ranking leader published on his social networks.

In women, Jennifer Coreas finished in first place after beating Sofía Paiz by one point (144-143). Camila Alvarenga placed third by beating Andrea Orellana 145-141.

Hernández, for his part, in addition to second place in the senior compound, also won a gold medal along with Sofía Paiz, in the mixed team competition. The Hernández-Paiz duo also equaled the national record of 158 points, set by themselves in 2021, in Medellín, Colombia.
