Its size and composition still remain very unclear, but it is certain that the delegation of neutral athletes carrying a Russian passport at the Paris 2024 Games will not include any archers. President of the Russian Archery Federation (RAF) Vladimir Yesheyev explained this to the agency TASS : the athletes decided not to compete in the Olympic qualifying events. A decision which definitively closes the door to the Paris 2024 Games. “ Our athletes will not participate in Olympic qualifying tournamentsannounced the leader. None of them are ready to compete without the national flag and anthem. In addition, many of our archers represent CSKA and Dynamo sports schools. The World Archery Board of Directors (the International Archery Federation) has already given the green light to the participation of neutral athletes, but the archers themselves have not shown interest in going to the Olympics. » Still according to Vladimir Yesheyev, the rules imposed by World Archery and the IOC for participation in the Paris 2024 Games, and especially their cost, also played a role in the decision of Russian archers to forgo possible qualification. The eligibility process, which notably involves disclosing very personal information, would cost each athlete the sum of 2,000 Swiss francs, or around 2,040 euros at current prices.
