Valmiera county derby continues: “Rubene” wins the 6th game, 3:3 in the series

The ELVI floorball league men’s quarter-final series between the regular tournament winner “Rubeni” and the 8th place winner “FBK Valmiera/Betsafe” will require a seventh game. This became clear tonight, when Kocēnu “Rubene” scored a 4:3 victory at the Valmieri stadium, leveling the series at 3:3. The best player award went to the captain of the Kocēni team, Jēkab Keish.

This was already the sixth game in the quarter-final series between the teams “FBK Valmiera/Betsafe” and “Rubene”. The series started with two matches in Kočeni. In the first of them, the Kocenians won only in overtime (7:6 ET), but in the second Valmiera team managed to get revenge with 9:8. The series moved to the Olympic Center of Valmiera, where the home team won the first game with 4:2, and then the Kocenians celebrated the victory with 5:3. On March 9, the two teams crossed clubs in the Kocēni sports house, where postgame shots were needed to determine the winners. In them, luck was on the side of the Valmiera team (2:1 PS), which took the lead in the series with 3:2.

The sixth game of the series, which took place in the Valmiera Olympic Center in the presence of 910 fans, was very successfully started by the Kocenians, who in the middle of the first period gained a two-goal lead in a short period of time – 2:0. Dāvis Zēmelis scored a goal in the 12th minute, and less than a minute later Artis Matīss Fogels also scored. The Valmiera floorball players scored the first goal only in the 28th minute, when Ralfs Klodge shot accurately – 1:2. In the 35th minute, Lauris Alvis Stiprais restored the draw with his goal – 2:2. In the middle of the third period, the Kocēni team had another moment of success – in the 51st minute, Ingar Matisons scored a goal (3:2), but two minutes later, the visiting captain Jēkabs Keish intercepted the ball, which already made it 4:2. In the 55th minute, Valmieri’s Matīs Salmiņas managed to realize his team’s numerical advantage – 3:4. In the remaining time, the Kocēni team successfully protected their one-goal advantage, “Rubene” celebrated the victory with 4:3, restoring the tie in the series (3:3).

Jēkabs Keish, the author of the fourth goal, received the award for the best player among the winners. Lauri Alvi Stipro was recognized as the best among the Valmieri players, who was the only one who managed to collect more than one performance point in this match – 2 (1+1). The seventh and at the same time decisive game of the series will take place on Wednesday, March 13, at the Kocēni Sports Hall. The match starts at 20.00. “FS Masters/Ulbroka” is already waiting for the winners of this pair in the semi-finals.
