Rostock Seawolves Suffer 13th Defeat in a Row in Basketball Bundesliga Fight

Rostock (dpa/lmv) – In the fight to stay in the Basketball Bundesliga, the Rostock Seawolves have suffered the next setback. On Easter Sunday, head coach Christian Held’s team lost to Ewe Baskets Oldenburg after an overall weak performance with 64:99 (36:45), thus suffering their 13th defeat in a row. The best thrower for the hosts was Derrick Alston with 24 points.

The Mecklenburg team got off to a bad start in the game. After just a few minutes, Oldenburg was ahead 18:11. Only then did Rostock come into their own offensively and ended the first quarter with a narrow lead. In the second period, however, the guests dominated the action and even pulled away to 45:32.

Even after the break, the Rostock team had a hard time on the offensive. It took almost four minutes for Alston to score the first point with a free throw. Oldenburg, which had only scored three baskets up to that point, then improved and continued to pull away. Around six minutes before the end of the game, the Seawolves’ deficit was finally 20 points. With that the encounter was decided. In the final phase, the hero team hardly managed to do anything, so the defeat was clear.
