Barça is saved by the rhythm of Laprovittola and Vesely

Barça suffered to win against Monbus Obradoiro (84-89) in another match ‘saved’ by the performances of Laprovittola and Jan Vesely who, with 21 and 18 points respectively, sealed a vital victory to remain installed in third place in the Endesa League.

In a Fontes do Sar that was tight from the first moment, the Barça He came out on the field much more active to sign the initial 0-10 that forced Moncho Fernández to request the first time-out of the afternoon.. Satoransky and Laprovittola commanded the operations in a Barça team that closed ranks behind. The pace of the game was frenetic and the locals also added their first points on the scoreboard with the signing of Thomas Scrubb, Monbus Obradoiro’s great light in attack who began to score his first circus baskets.

Grimau’s men gave no respite in the offensive transition and scored from long distance to make it 11-24. The quarter ended with very good feelings for a Catalan team that set the ‘tempos’ at will (15-25).

Workshop brings out character

Jokubaitis and Abrines added points at the opening of the second quarter, but on the other side Blazevic and Mendoza answered with an Obradoiro who grew and closed the gap (24-30). Thomas Scrubb was a dagger in Grimau’s defensive framework, with 11 points in just over 15 minutes played that made his fans go crazy. The locals did not lose sight of Barça but they responded to any attempt at real danger, with Da Silva inspired by the fight for the rebound (35-40).

The last few moments of the first half were an exchange of baskets that benefited the locals, who continued to take advantage of an almost perfect Scrubb in field goals (5/6) and who did what he wanted with Kalinic on the outside. Local final rush and players at half-time with a tight 44-46.

Vesely saves the ballot

The passage through the locker room did not alter the script of the game and its cruising speed. Timma’s triple put Monbus Obradoiro ahead for the first time (54-51) against a Barça that moved the ball in attack without judgment and whose lights went out against the rival defense. Howard and Scrubb were a nightmare for Grimau, nailing all the suspensions and punishing the culé’s passivity (68-59). Abrines and Brizuela appeared in ‘savior’ mode and scored two triples in a row to end a bad third quarter in a Barça key (68-62).

Vesely scored six consecutive points to start the last period and showed why he is Barça’s MVP, a streak that Laprovittola added to with a decisive triple to regain the lead (72-73). However, desperation took over Grimau’s men again in the final minutes, giving hope to an Obradoiro who was growing after Vesely was sent off for technical reasons. Da Silva put up a great defense against Dotson that, in the end, would be crucial for Lapro to put the first key in the coffin of the Galician team. In the last minute, Grimau’s score left Abrines completely alone and ‘Wolverine’ did not forgive with the triple that sealed the victory. Final and Barça victory by 84-89.
