Rising Star Sidy Cissoko’s Path to the NBA Squad: A French Connection with Victor Wembanyama

Sidy Cissoko, drafted 44th by the Spurs this year, spent most of the year in the G League. Author of a good end to the season, he could claim a few minutes in the NBA squad. And this is not to displease Victor Wembanyama.

At a press conference after his exceptional match against the Nets, Wemby allowed himself a little lobbying about Sidy Cissoko. The rookie carefully observes the rise in power of his compatriot, and does not hide his desire to share the floor with him. This is not to displease French NBA fans.

The Frenchman had a particularly successful week in the G League, including a game winner, a 25-point performance off the bench, and a big match with a 5/6 from the parking lot last night. Like a fish in water at the lower level, he continues to perfect his shot to complement his superb athleticism.

Sidy Cissoko also gave himself up to Benjamin Moubèche in a nice interview to be found here.

The end of the season is approaching in the G League, and Pop could call the player two-way to give him some playing time. A Franco-French combo on the San Antonio side to spice up the end of March before going on vacation? We say yes yes yes.
