The Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA) has put out to tender the 4th sand transfer for Rinconcillo Beach after obtaining the green light from the Coastal Demarcation, the competent Administration for that stretch of the coastline.

The project planned for the 2024 season contemplates a sand movement of 19,000 m3 of sand from the South to the North section of the beach.

The Port Authority’s investment in this new transfer reaches 147,839 euros. The transfer will be carried out with long arm excavators for loading, trucks dumper for transporting the sand, and a shovel or bulldozer for spreading. The withdrawal will be carried out in the dry beach areas with greater width.

As the president of the APBA, Gerardo Landaluce, has recalled, the APBA thus fulfills the commitments acquired both with the Algeciras City Council and with the residents of Rinconcillo more than 4 years ago.

This fourth transfer comes while the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge finalizes the project to execute the definitive solution to stop the tilting of the beach.
