Qualifying for the Champions League is now realistic for Roma

AS Roma’s positive run in Serie A this season with Daniele De Rossi continues. Qualifying for the Champions League next season is now a realistic target.

The Giallorossi have just defeated Sassuolo 1-0 in the 29th week of Serie A this season, as well as their seventh win in the last nine matches since De Rossi came on to replace Jose Mourinho.

This series of sweet results lifted Roma’s position in the standings. Now they are in fifth place with 51 points, only three points adrift of Bologna who are in fourth place, or the final zone for the Champions League.

With nine matches remaining, finishing in the top four is not difficult to achieve. De Rossi asked Roma to maintain focus until the end of the season so that the momentum that has been built is not destroyed in vain.

“Roma are not the best team, but apart from Milan, Inter and Juventus, we are on par with the others and are fighting to achieve this target,” De Rossi told DAZN when asked if Roma could finish in the top four at the end of the season.

“There are teams that have succeeded in proving that football is not just about numbers and salaries. If that were the case, Bologna should be in 10th place. We have to believe in ourselves. Otherwise it will be difficult to get points.”

“I was lucky to find a club and a group of players who believe in me. There is still a long way to go, we can still improve ourselves or ruin everything if we are not ready in the next two months,” explained De Rossi.
