Playoff Hopes Brighten for Golden State Warriors with Favorable Schedule Compared to Houston Rockets

A rare reason for hope in the grayness of an end of season which potentially augurs the end of an era, the Warriors’ schedule is, on paper, much lighter than that of the Rockets. In their last 11 matches, Golden State will indeed face the Jazz 2x, the Spurs 1x, the Blazers 1x and the Hornets 1x, i.e. 5 matches against teams who no longer play anything, except the draft. So, of course, 8 of these 11 matches will be away, but if they want to qualify, the Warriors must raise their level and therefore win all these matches where they will be favorites. For the rest, quite a few small duels against franchises which are also fighting for their “survival” this season (Miami, 2x Dallas, Orlando, the Lakers).

As for the Rockets, as we have said, the end of the season firmly resembles a solid obstacle course. Of its last 10 matches, Houston will play 7 against “play-offable” teams and not the least: Oklahoma, 2x Dallas, Minnesota, Miami, Orlando, the Clippers and… the Warriors.

Two observations are therefore obvious: Dallas, which will face the two teams twice between now and the end of the season, could have a crucial role as referee to play. And then, we say to ourselves, when we see how tight this ranking is, that the direct confrontation between the Rockets and the Warriors (scheduled for April 5) could weigh heavily, very heavily in the balance.
