Pézenas Judo School Celebrates New Black Belt Promotion and Progress Towards Higher Ranks

It was at the request of Alexandre Simon, 34, whose son practices at the Mahita Beby Judo School (EJMB) in Pézenas that the teen-adult section was created in 2022. Under the leadership of Beby Mahita, professor and founder of the EJMB, Alexandre and his partner Cécile Laborie from the Villeneuve-lès-Béziers club, prepared and validated together the different tests of the exam for this coveted grade: kata validated last November in Mèze, arbitration in January at Mèze, techniques on March 23 at Bouillargues and combat effectiveness on March 24 at Narbonne.

Alexandre Simon is therefore newly promoted to the rank of 1st dan black belt, the first judoka trained by the Pézenas judo school. He was honored by the Occitanie judo league with his teacher at the Narbonne dojo last Sunday.

Furthermore, on Sunday, Stéphane Geffroy earned his first points in his quest for 2nd dan. He opened his account by scoring 20 points in combat out of the 100 necessary to validate this rank.

These two judokas are examples for those who have stopped judo; young people thus realize that recovery is possible to achieve a goal, it is a question of will. According to Beby Mahita: “Despite the teacher’s advice, attendance at training is a major asset to achieve the objective.”

Belt award ceremonies will be organized, among others on June 29 at the Pézenas countryside center, for all new graduates of the judo school. The ceremony will be followed by an associations gala the next day to close the season.
