Patrick Mahomes Agrees to Restructure Contract, Freeing Up $21.6 Million for Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has agreed to restructure his contract.

The two-time league MVP has agreed to restructure his contract to free up $21.6 million against the Chiefs’ salary cap, according to Adam Schefter of‘ESPN.

The Chiefs also restructured Mahomes’ contract in 2023, allowing him to earn $208.1 million between 2023 and 2026. This is the largest amount in NFL history for a contract of this length.

The Chiefs will therefore have more money to sign free agents in hopes of building another Super Bowl contending team as the team aims for an unprecedented three-peat.
