A motorcyclist lost his life yesterday afternoon in a traffic accident in the Balboa sector, jurisdiction of Calarcá. The victim, identified as Jéferson Jesús Lengua Ospina, from Calarcá, was driving a black Hero motorcycle with a red license plate YMO-447D when, according to authorities, he invaded the opposite lane and collided head-on with a truck with license plate SZP-985.
The accident occurred on the road that connects the El Caimo district of Armenia with the Ye – La Española sector of Calarcá. The conditions of the road, wet from the rain that fell in the afternoon, would have influenced the tragedy.
Highway Police units went to the scene to regulate traffic and personnel from the Traffic and Transportation section (Setra) of the Quindío Police went to carry out the technical inspection of the body and the scene of the accident. The truck driver was unhurt.
Authorities are investigating the causes of the accident and recommend drivers travel with caution, especially in adverse weather conditions.
