The New Orleans Pelicans will be without injured star forward Brandon Ingram for at least two weeks as they fight for a spot in the NBA playoffs, the team announced Friday. Injured during the third quarter of the match lost 121-106 on the night of Thursday to Friday in Orlando, Ingram underwent an MRI following a hyper-extension of his left knee. The results of the examination revealed a bone contusion to the knee and the 26-year-old American will be re-evaluated in two weeks, the Louisiana franchise said.
The Pelicans, fifth in the Western Conference standings with a record of 42 wins and 27 losses, will be without their second scorer and their best passer during a critical period at the end of the season. Ingram, who averages 20.9 points, 5.8 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game, will miss at least seven of his team’s final 13 regular-season games, including clashes against contenders Milwaukee, Oklahoma City , Boston and Phoenix.
