Nettuno City Softball Prepares for A2 Season with New Coach and Roster Changes

Martina Caiazzo and Giulia Caprini

The start of the official A2 season is still far away, with the opening day set for next May 5th, when the newly promoted Supramonte Softball will face the newly promoted Supramonte Softball at the Pineschi field in Anzio, but Nettuno City baseball & Softball is preparing to give its best in the next championship.

The first issue to be resolved will be that of the new technical guide, after the separation with manager Alessandra Cirelli, who led the team in the 2023 season, which ended in fourth place with 12 victories and as many defeats. The name of the team’s new main coach will be announced by the company in the next few days. There will also be news in the roster available to him, with some farewells and new arrivals.

Unfortunately, the continuous increases in costs, especially due to increasingly demanding trips, allow us little room for maneuver – explained the team’s sporting director Fulvio BellobonoHowever, we are planning as best we can and we are certain that we will do well again this season as we continue on our growth path. We decided together with the Dolphins to join forces and present a single senior team, so on the roster there will be several athletes who played in B with the Dolphins last year; we expect growth in younger athletes, who represent the future of our society“.

Testimony to the good work done with the young talents of the team in recent days Martina Caiazzo e Giulia Caprini participated in the meeting of the Lazio Regional Selection Junior League Softball category, reserved for athletes born in 2009 and 2010, with a view to the next Regions Tournament.

Chiara Ruberto, however, who grew up in the Dolphins and who last year played in A2 with Nettuno Softball City, is currently in the United States to attend Xaverian High School in New York State, thanks to the scholarship obtained within the program at the College Pipeline conducted by Fibs and the Italian American Baseball Foundation. Chiara was included in the list of 45 athletes monitored to be included in the Under 18 national team in view of the next category world championship, scheduled for August in China.
