Ahn Byeong-gu, a preliminary candidate for Miryang mayor, announced on the 29th a pledge in the field of substantial, eco-friendly eco-tourism linked to experiential tourism utilizing Miryang’s natural resources.
Candidate Ahn said, “We will revitalize eco-tourism by using existing natural tourism resources such as Wiyangji, Pyochungsa Temple, and Eoreumgol, and install a monorail to attract mountain tourists by utilizing mountain tourism in the southeastern region using the Yeongnam Alps.” He added, “Pyochungsa Temple sanctuary project.” He said, “We will consider promoting and turning the Yeongnam Alps into a national park.”
In addition, he added, “In connection with the Jongnam Mountain Azalea Festival, we will utilize landscape direct payments to nearby fallow farmland, plant large-scale floating flowers, hold flower festivals, etc., and dramatically attract tourists by turning night lights into Wiyangji, a natural tourist site all year round.”

He promised, “We will contribute to revitalizing the local economy by promoting active administration to revitalize the tourism industry through the development of various contents and promotion of power blogs for eco-tourism using Miryang’s mysterious natural resources such as Maneosa Temple, Eoreumgol, and Pyochungbigak.” In particular, preliminary candidate Ahn Byeong-gu praised himself, saying, “While working as an auditor for a public enterprise at the Korea Water Resources Corporation, I smoothly carried out a large-scale national project worth 25 trillion won with strong driving force.”
Since returning to Miryang in 1994, he has been involved with citizens through various volunteer groups, including as president of the Miryang Elementary School Alumni Association, president of the Miryang City Local Youth Association, and president of the Badminton Association, and is evaluated as being able to listen to others well and be considerate of others.
