Spaniard Carlos Sainz set the best time in the 3rd free practice session of the Bahrain Grand Prix, 1st round of the Formula 1 World Championship, Friday at the Sakhir circuit.
The Ferrari driver beat the Spaniard Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) and the three-time reigning Dutch world champion Max Verstappen, 3rd.
The other Ferrari, that of Monegasque Charles Leclerc, is 4th ahead of the McLaren of British Lando Norris, 5th.
Best times the day before on the windswept Sakhir track, British Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell 12th and 6th respectively.
As for Alpine, which arrives in Bahrain with a brand new car to try to get back into the leading pack, Esteban Ocon is 18th, ahead of his teammate and French compatriot Pierre Gasly, 20th and last.
