Quakenbrück/Frankfurt – The Artland Dragons Quakenbrück managed to stay in the league in the 2nd Basketball Bundesliga Pro A on the 34th and final main round matchday. Strictly speaking, their own 95:91 win after extra time at the Frankfurt Skyliners would not have been necessary, as VfL Bochum lost 84:89 at Science City Jena. Before the last match day, the Bochum team were two points behind the Quakenbrückers, who were third from last, and are therefore the second relegated team alongside Paderborn Baskets. With the win, the Artland Dragons even moved up to 14th place in the final table, because the Giants Düsseldorf (against the Kirchheim Knights) and the Baskets Koblenz (against the Lions Karlsruhe) also lost.

Rasta Vechta II suffered a clear 73:102 defeat against Uni Baskets Münster at the end of the season. Germany’s best second team had long since secured relegation and finished the season directly ahead of the Quakenbrückers in 13th place.

The Eisbären Bremerhaven are three places further up. The former Bundesliga team won 94:75 against the Gladiators Trirt. However, the Bremerhaven team no longer had a chance of reaching the playoffs and will therefore play in the Pro A in the coming season – like Quakenbrück and Vechta II.
