Inauguration of a New Dojo at Eu Judo Club: Bringing Martial Arts to the Community

The Eu judo club, in Seine-Maritime, has a new dojo. This was set up on the lower floor of the club’s long-standing training room, in the former sick ward of the Hôtel-Dieu.

If this project may have caused controversy, it was a happy event which took place on Friday March 15, 2024. The president of the Judo Club of Eu, Nathalie Léger, and the first deputy mayor of the city of Eu, Claudine Briffard , inaugurated the new premises.

This ceremony was held in the presence of Senator Céline Brulin, departmental advisor Laurent Jacques, France Judo national technical advisor Sébastien Mansois, but also several members of the French Judo Federation.

For this new equipment, the city of Eu was able to benefit from the “1,000 dojos” program, initiated by the French Judo Federation and the State as part of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Claudine Briffard, described: “The “Rehabilitation of this building, even if it is not classified, is a real opportunity for our team which takes care of Eud’s heritage on a daily basis, this cooperation with France Judo has made it possible.”

“Children and adolescents from all backgrounds”

The work was carried out at the end of 2023. Claudine Briffard added: “We benefited from 80% subsidies, which made it possible to reduce the city’s financial contribution to €21,000”.

The municipality is delighted with this new equipment which will allow the club to have more space to practice judo.

Nathalie Léger, president of the club, confirmed: “This new equipment was designed to accommodate children and adolescents from all backgrounds. This solidarity dojo should allow many young people to discover the benefits of martial arts.”
