With plenty of support, HSV travels to Fortuna Düsseldorf. After the defeat against Osnabrück, Hamburg want to show a different face. A returnee could help with this.
With a more offensive Robert Glatzel and the returnee Laszlo Benes, Hamburger SV wants to appear more dangerous than last against rivals Fortuna Düsseldorf. Before the second division football game on Friday (6.30 p.m./Sky), coach Steffen Baumgart assumed that Glatzel’s positioning “will be better again, that he will get into his final situations much better”.

Benes could help with that. The dangerous midfielder returns to the squad after serving his red card ban. “He will play,” said Baumgart. The 26-year-old Slovakian was sent off with a red card in the final phase of the last game under Tim Walter against Hannover 96 and received a three-game ban. “He will play a big role, not only in terms of the game, but also in terms of set pieces,” said Baumgart. “If everything goes normally, it will run from the start.”

As a game designer, Benes will have an important task in the duel with the seventh-place team. “I believe that Düsseldorf has a higher quality in the transition game than Osnabrück. That’s why we have to be very careful. We just have to be clearer when we play forward,” said Baumgart. “I assume that we will have a lot of possession, that we will be in the opponent’s half a lot.”

In Benes, Baumgart gets an important player back for the offensive, whose qualities would certainly have stood the HSV in good stead in the 1-2 defeat against bottom-placed VfL Osnabrück.
