At 19 years old, Coco Gauff continues his rise in the world of tennis and more generally of sport. For Voguethe world number 3 gave a long interview in which she talks about her coronation at Flushing Meadows and on its future objectives.
“This feeling was a drug”
September 9, 2023 Coco Gauff won the first Grand Slam of his career by toppling Aryna Sabalenka, at only 19 years old. A victory and a feeling that the American will never be able to regain according to her words: “It was a feeling that I will never be able to reproduce, no matter how many matches I win. I want to win more to get closer to that feeling, I told my mother, it was an addictive feeling . As soon as I felt that, I wanted to do it again. I said, ‘Now I see how people get addicted to drugs.’ That feeling was a drug. For the rest of my life, for the rest in my career, I’m going to look for that feeling.”
“Paris is my favorite city”
Finalist in 2022 at Roland Garros, Gauff does not hide his desire to win the Parisian Grand Slam: “I really want to do well or win Roland Garros because I felt like I came very close to victory last time”said Gauffwho reached his first major final on clay in 2022. “Paris is my favorite city, so I want to try to win there. It would be special. But obviously, if it’s not Roland GarrosI would be very happy to win Wimbledon or theUS Open.”
