Harold Mayot, the only Frenchman to qualify for the Masters 1,000 in Miami

Sad results Tuesday for the Blues during qualifying for the Masters 1000 in Miami. Four French people were still in the running to reach the final draw. Only Harold Mayot, 22 years old (n° 141) managed to qualify. Messin beat the experienced (33 years old) David Goffin (7-6 [5], 6-2), former world No. 7, now relegated to 106th place. He had benefited in the previous round from the abandonment of Arhur Cazaux, victim of illness in the middle of the match due to severe dehydration.

Hugo Grenier (n° 137) was the first Frenchman to enter the field this Tuesday. The 27-year-old lost in two sets (6-3, 6-4) against Thiago Seyboth Wild (No. 76). Terence Atmane (22 years old) was forced to retire after only two games against Brandon Nakashima (1-1 ab.). The Habs seemed to suffer from calf pain.

Arthur Rinderknech (No. 82) came very close to winning against the Argentinian Diego Schwartzman (No. 122). The 28-year-old Frenchman won the first set 6-3 before seeing the former world number 8 pick up a set all (3-6, 6-3). The match ended with a decisive tie-break, in which the Argentinian used all his experience to win (3-6, 6-3, 7-6 [1]).
