Graz women dethrone champions in the semi-finals

The women from UBI Holding Graz also won the second away game at BK Raiffeisen Duchess Klosterneuburg on Wednesday with 72:63 (23:32) and thus dethroned the series champions in the semi-finals of the win2day Basketball Women’s Superliga.

Both teams started the decider very nervously, but the Lower Austrians were able to pull ahead by nine points by the break. As in the first semi-final game, the Styrians started to catch up and took the lead at the beginning of the final period.

Klosterneuburg fought back again just before the final siren and forced overtime with a three-pointer. In this, the Graz women turned up the attack and made it to the final.

“It’s unbelievable that we’re in the final”

Graz coach Tanja Kuzmanovic was “incredibly proud” of her team and said: “It was an incredible game and another comeback for our team. It felt like everything was against us, we had to put regular players on the bench, but we proved again what you can achieve with fighting spirit. It’s unbelievable that we’re in the final.”

Klosterneuburg coach Franz Zderadicka congratulated the opponents: “They made better shots in the second half, which was actually our goal.”
