The Juan Gómez ‘Juanito’ pavilion in Fuengirola will host the Andalusian Judo Cup on Saturday, April 6, in the junior and junior categories. This was announced today by the Councilor for Sports, Julio Rodríguez, who explained that the competition will have the participation of 226 athletes and will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
“Today we announce a new, very important sporting event that will take place in our city next Saturday, April 6: the Andalusian Judo Cup in the juvenile and youngest category, which are boys and girls between eight and twelve years old. In total, 226 boys and girls come from the eight Andalusian provinces,” explained Rodríguez, who was “very happy to see how the sport is becoming more equal and in a discipline like judo there is more and more inclusion of women. because on this occasion 105, 46% of the participants, will be girls.”
The competition will take place between 11:00 and 13:00 and later, between 16:00 and 19:00, the Andalusian Judo Federation will hold a concentration of the Andalusian National Team. “What’s better than using the event where the best in Andalusia will compete so that the Federation can bring together the young talents that little by little it has to assemble for the next competitions in the Spanish championships. Fuengirola will be the high performance center where the best male and female judokas in Andalusia from 11 to 13 years of age will meet.”
Julio Rodríguez has assured that “in Fuengirola we are very proud to see how the federations of different sports disciplines always have Fuengirola as their preferred destination.” In this sense, the mayor recalled that “in February we had a real success with more than 400 participants in the European Judo Cup, which has been held for thirty years in our city.”
To conclude, the Sports Councilor highlighted that “our commitment is firm to the promotion and dissemination of different sports disciplines and to accommodate the less popular ones such as the world of judo, which will be based in Fuengirola in the Andalusian Cup that we are going to enjoy on April 6 in the Juan Gómez ‘Juanito’ pavilion.”
